Centrifugal Fan

Centrifugal Fans and Impellers

Centrifugal fans use the centrifugal force of a rotating impeller, giving high pressure at relatively low flow, which suits high-resistance systems such as dust collection ducting, boiler induced draft and process exhaust. Blade forms include backward-curved, forward-curved and multi-vane, each with different efficiency and pressure characteristics.

SINDFAN supplies complete centrifugal fans and centrifugal impellers from Ø250mm to Ø2000mm, in fabricated steel, cast aluminium or stainless steel depending on the medium.

Figures above are our standard ranges; the actual supply is per the agreed technical specification. Impeller performance curves describe the bare impeller under standard inlet conditions. Once installed, performance is affected by casing clearance, tip clearance, inlet straightening and guide vanes; tested as a complete fan to GB/T 1236 / AMCA 210 the result typically differs by 2-5%. Site measurement governs and no complete-fan performance warranty is implied.

Typical applications

  • Dust collection and bag / cartridge filter systems
  • Boiler induced and forced draft
  • Process exhaust and fume extraction
  • Drying and hot air circulation
  • AHU internal fans
  • Pneumatic and material conveying
  • Chemical and pharmaceutical clean exhaust
  • Paint booth and pickling line exhaust

Selection notes

  • Dust-laden gas requires a wear-resistant build (thicker blades or wear liners) or the impeller will wear through quickly.
  • For corrosive gas choose 304/316 stainless or a GRP impeller - not plain carbon steel.
  • Belt-driven units need allowance for pulley and base dimensions; direct-driven units need confirmation that motor shaft and keyway match.
  • Avoid sharp bends at the centrifugal inlet - a short inlet straight reduces efficiency and increases noise.

FAQ

Backward-curved or forward-curved?

Backward-curved gives higher efficiency and a non-overloading power curve, so it dominates dust collection and process exhaust. Forward-curved and multi-vane give more flow for the same size but lower efficiency, common in low-pressure AHU duty.

Can it handle dust?

Yes, but the build must follow the dust concentration and abrasiveness: thicken the blades or add wear protection for heavy or hard particulate, and use liners where needed.

Can I buy the impeller only?

Yes. Provide diameter, width, blade form, speed, medium and bore requirement for a quotation, or send an old part for measurement.
